This course provides learners with practical, creative photographic skills in the studio and an exploration of traditional darkroom skills. The course will be delivered three hours per week on a Tuesday evening.
The course is equivalent to half an A Level and aims to develop your creative photographic skills which would assist you in pursuing a freelance photography career or progress your studies with a Foundation Degree course (also delivered at our Nantgarw Campus).
What Will I Learn?
During this course you will complete 3 units, which include digital photography skills, traditional darkroom skills and studio practice.
Throughout the course you will learn how to use your camera manually using ISO, aperture and shutter speed. You will learn how to use film cameras, shoot film, process your film and hand print your images using traditional darkroom equipment.
In addition, you will learn how to use professional studio lighting, using a range of subject matter, including models and still life.
Entry requirements include 3 GCSEs A*- C including English/Welsh and Maths or a subject-related Level 2 Diploma qualification with essential skills in literacy and numeracy at Level 2 or above.
Mature learners without such qualifications are considered on an individual basis and a range of prior experience may be taken into account.
