The course is aimed at learners who wish to pursue a career in the civil, military or aerospace industries. It may also prepare learners for progression into higher education. The Extended Diploma in Aerospace is a nationally recognised qualification which is designed to give the learner a specialist work related qualification as well as providing learners with a knowledge and understanding of the aerospace industry.
Alongside this you will also study the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification. This course is the equivalent to three A level qualifications (UCAS equivalent points).

5 GCSEs at grades A*- C including English/Welsh, Maths/Numeracy and Science, or another level 2 qualification in with the appropriate selection and grades of units.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
You will be assessed in a number of different ways. The Extended Diploma will be assessed via course assignments, experiments, project work and written assignments. To assess the Welsh Baccalaureate elements learners are required to keep a diary of their activities and experiences and complete a 2,500 word Individual Investigation.

- On successful completion of this course there are many progression routes including higher education in the form of a HNC or Degree. You may be able to move into Industrial Employment at technician level, a Modern Apprenticeship or employment in either civil or military organisations.

Mechanical engineers undertake research and design, direct the manufacture and manage the operation and maintenance of engines, machines, aircraft, vehicle and ships’ structures, building services and other mechanical items.
Mechanical engineers usually possess an accredited university degree. After qualifying, periods of appropriate training and experience are required before membership of a chartered engineering institution is attainable. Incorporated engineers possess an accredited university degree, BTEC/SQA award or an apprenticeship leading to an NVQ/SVQ at Level 4, followed by periods of training and relevant experience.
