This course is suitable for young people who have an interest in or want to work within, marketing, events organisation or events exhibitions, and how it operates.
The Event Management and Marketing course gives you an insight into the working world as well as gaining a qualification equivalent to AS Levels. The qualification you will gain at the end of the academic year is the BTEC 90 credit Diploma in Business.
What Will I Learn?
You will gain a broad understanding of event management and marketing, develop knowledge related to the events and marketing industry, digital marketing, market research, planning events, health and safety, managing the running of events all with the opportunity to apply your learning in a practical way.
You will also gain confidence through developing independent learning skills and will be able to apply these skills to periods of work experience.
You will require 5 GCSEs at grades A*- C including English/Welsh and Maths/Numeracy or a Level 2 in Business with Merit grade and a GCSE English grade with A* - C.
You will be invited to attend an interview. During this interview you will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
You will be assessed via internally assessed assignments and practical work for the Event Management and Marketing units.

Job holders in this unit group plan, organise, direct and co-ordinate the activities and resources of hotels, hostels, lodging homes, holiday camps, holiday flats and chalets, and organise the domestic, catering, and entertainment facilities on passenger ships.
Entry is possible with a variety of academic qualifications and/or relevant experience. Candidates for these usually require a BTEC/SQA award, a degree or equivalent qualification, or a professional qualification. Off- and on-the-job training is provided and large hotel chains normally offer management trainee schemes. NVQs/SVQs in management for hospitality, leisure and tourism are available at Levels 3 and 4.
