This course is designed for those wishing to follow a career in Hairdressing and/or Beauty Therapy.
As well as studying a qualification in this subject, you will also develop your literacy and numeracy as well as skills in working with others.
What Will I Learn?
Following the practical skills curriculum you will study a Certificate in Vocational Studies, which can include Shampoo and Conditioning hair, aspects of Styling women’s hair, Hand and Nail care using basic manicure, How to prepare for work, Developing self, Healthy living and Working as a group.
Additional qualifications include the Essential Skills Wales in Communications, Numeracy.
You must be working at Entry Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy and will be working towards Entry 3 qualifications.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
You will participate in a period of initial assessment, and your work will be assessed by a range of methods, which includes completion of a portfolio, practical observation and written assignments.

Job holders in this unit group plan, organise, direct and co-ordinate the activities and resources of hairdressing salons, beauty treatment and similar establishments.
No formal qualifications are required for entry although entrants usually possess a BTEC/SQA award, an NVQ/SVQ in Hairdressing at Level 3, an apprenticeship and/or relevant experience.
