This course is suitable for young people who have an interest in business and how it operates. The BTEC Diploma in Business is a course which gives you an insight into the working world as well as gaining a qualification equivalent to 3 AS Levels.
This then progresses to the Extended Diploma in Business which is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
What Will I Learn?
You will gain a broad understanding of business and have an opportunity to apply your learning in a practical way. The BTEC units of study are Marketing, Business Law, Starting up a Business, Finance and Understanding Retail. You will also gain confidence through developing independent learning skills and will be able to apply these skills to periods of work experience.
You will study the Welsh Baccalaureate where you will explore a wide range of areas including Wales, Europe and the World; Work-related Education and Personal and Social Education. As part of the Welsh Baccalaureate you will develop your Essential Skills.
You will require 5 GCSEs at grades A*- C including English/Welsh and Maths/Numeracy or a Level 2 in Business with or a related vocational qualification
You will be invited to attend an interview. During this interview you will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
The Welsh Baccalaureate is assessed via the production of a portfolio of learning and the completion of a substantial project. Whereas the assessments for the BTEC qualification are based on the units of study. All units will have internal assessments in the form of assignments and practical work.

There are no pre-set entry standards, although entry is most common with a relevant degree or equivalent qualification. Professional qualifications are available and are required for certain posts.
