The CILEx Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice is the first stage of academic training to become a Chartered Legal Executive, and has been developed at Coleg y Cymoedd to ensure a flexible approach to learning in a social environment- with the support of highly qualified and experienced staff.
The Diploma will give learners an excellent grounding in all of the core areas of law.
What Will I Learn?
The Level 3 Diploma in Law & Practice consists of 10 units. These include an Introduction to Law & Practice, Contract Law, Criminal Law, and many more. You will also study practice units which allow you to link the theory of law with its real-life practice within the work place, as well as professional skills units (Client Care and Legal Research) for transferable legal skills in practical and relevant situations.
5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English/Welsh and Maths/Numeracy or a Level 2 in Business with Merit grade and a GCSE English/Welsh grade A*-C. Mature learners with relevant industry experience who do not meet the academic qualifications will be considered individually via interview.
Examination in January and June of each academic year for 8 out of the 10 units. The professional skills units will be assessed in the form of coursework.

- The Chartered Legal Executive lawyer route is low cost, quick, and flexible. Our course will allow you to earn-as-you-learn, and give you the academic knowledge and practical skills to begin your journey toward working in the legal sector as a fee earner. Those who complete the course may go on to work as fee earners and paralegals within law firms and government departments, or upskill and progress within their current workplace. Once you have completed your Level 3 qualification you can apply directly to CILEx to become an Associate member and be entitled to use the post-nominal title ACILEx after your name. Learners may also progress on to the Level 6 qualification through CILEx and its Accredited Centres.
