This course is suitable for learners with a sound basic knowledge of Computing or Information Technology who wish to progress in these fields in employment or to a relevant degree course.
What Will I Learn?
You will study all aspects of ICT, from databases to web development, Developing Business Applications to Networking Concepts. During year two, you will study a large part of the course in the workplace, so the course content can be tailored to meet your career aspirations.
A relevant BTEC Level 3 profile of Pass/Pass/Pass or DD at A Level (or equivalent). Additionally, GCSE passes at grade C or above in three subjects to include English/Welsh Language and Mathematics/Numeracy (consideration is given to individual circumstances). Mature learners with relevant industry experience who do not meet the academic qualifications will be considered individually via interview.
You will be invited to attend an interview and will undertake a n assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
The course will be delivered through a mix of traditional lectures and practical sessions. Some modules will be available online. Each module will have assessed assignments and some will have an exam at the end.

It has a strong practical orientation and prepares you for a career in computer application design and development, user support and training, in commercial organisations and software houses. You can also progress onto a relevant degree course. On successful completion of this course you will be receive a University of South Wales award.
