Information Technology is one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK. The aim of this course is to inspire and enthuse learners to become technology savvy. You will have the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge and understanding of, and to develop skills in, the information technology sector and some aspects of the creative industries.
All full-time learners will be expected to attend skills sessions as well as their chosen vocational course. You will also be asked to attend tutorial sessions as part of your full-time course timetable.
What Will I Learn?
You will explore the fundamentals of IT and gain practical skills, knowledge and understanding to design, make and review various different types of software and hardware technologies. You will learn all about the online world, customer service skills, the principles of networking and IT support as well as skills in web design, digital graphics and digital animation.
4 GCSEs grades A*- D (including Maths and English) or a Level 1 qualification in Computing/IT
You will be invited to attend an interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required. At Coleg y Cymoedd we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your assessments. The better your grades the more options you will have and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher-level course.
You will be assessed with a combination of assignments, an online test for one unit and practical hands on and work-related tasks.
