A one year computing course that introduces a range of computing fields. From knowing why, to learning how using a range of industry standard and open source applications, this course is for those who like to create, experiment and problem solve.
All full-time learners will be expected to attend skills sessions as well as their chosen vocational course. You will also be asked to attend tutorial sessions as part of your full-time course timetable.
What Will I Learn?
You will study units such as: Online World, Technology Systems, Digital Portfolio, Creating Digital Graphics, Mobile App Development, Database Development, Automated Computer Systems, Software Development, Multimedia Products Development, Computing in the Workplace and Computational Thinking.
You will require 4 GCSEs at grades A*- D including Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh or a Level 1 in Computing/IT with GCSE English/Welsh and Maths/Numeracy at Grade D or above, or a related vocational area qualification with suitable experience.
You will be invited to attend an interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required. At Coleg y Cymoedd we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your assessments. The better your grades the more options you will have and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher-level course.
Consisting of two external tests - Online World and Technology Systems as well as a range of internally set assessments using a variety of methods both written and verbal. Throughout the year you will create Digital Portfolio to showcase the work and skills developed throughout the course.
