Course Information
This course allows you to further develop the skills gained on the Level 1 Diploma programme. It provides further practical and theoretical knowledge required to understand and apply the skills of bricklaying and follows the Foundation Modern Apprentice framework.
What Will I Learn?
You will carry out practical tasks to gain knowledge and skills in the following areas: The underpinning knowledge in bricklaying and block laying; Erect and setting out basic structures; Feature brickwork; Erect and dismantle working platforms; Store resources ready for use and Contribute to safe and efficient working practices.
You will also complete Essential Skills at Level 2 in both Application of Number and Communications.
Entry Requirements
You will require a Level 1 qualification in Brickwork.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
Assessment
You will complete a range of practical tasks, projects and written assignments, and a portfolio of evidence is produced. End of units on-line tests are also completed along with an external on-line examination which is undertaken towards the end of the course.

Notes
Purchase of steel toe capped boots, overalls and a course text book is required for this course. Please discuss this at interview stage with a tutor after you have applied.

Career Progression
- On successful completion of this qualification, learners may be able to progress onto a NVQ Level 2 programme as an apprentice or trainee to become a qualified tradesperson.
