Course Information
This course will provide you with a nationally recognised qualification in construction, and give you an opportunity to progress into National or vocational disciplines in the construction industry.
What Will I Learn?
The curriculum includes both academic and practical elements in construction disciplines, in order for you to gain a wide insight into the construction industry; as well as Key Skills at Level 1. Academic Subjects: Mathematics, Health & Safety, Science, Construction Process and Practices. Practical Disciplines: Brickwork & Trowel Trades, Carpentry & Wood Trades, and Painting & Decorating Trades.
Entry Requirements
You will require 4 GCSEs at grades A*- D including English/Welsh and Maths/Numeracy or successful completion of a Level 1 or 2 in a Construction trade.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
Assessment
You will be assessed on a continuous basis, depending on the subject - e.g. assignments, end tests, projects, working individually and as part of a team.

Career Progression
- This foundation qualification can "open many doors", either into a National Diploma and Welsh Baccalaureate (which is equal to 3-4 A levels) , a Modern Apprenticeship, National Award which can lead to a University Degree, or indeed employment in construction e.g. Site Management, Surveying etc. .
