Course Information
A Level Psychology gives a broad introduction to the scope and nature of psychology as a science. Through the course you will apply psychology to cultural, social and contemporary issues, and use a range of research methods.
What Will I Learn?
At AS you will study two units – Psychology: Past to Present and Psychology: Investigating behaviour. Classic research will help you to gain an appreciation that psychology continues to develop and evolve. You will develop an understanding of the five approaches (biological, psychodynamic, behaviourist, cognitive and positive). You will also be involved in investigating behaviour by analysing psychological research. This will in turn aid learners to gain an appreciation of the impact of choices made on the outcomes of work.
For A2 you will study two units – Psychology: Implications in the Real World and Psychology: Applied Research Methods. Having learned about the various psychological approaches at AS, learners will be expected to apply this knowledge and understanding to human/animal behaviours by studying various topics such as schizophrenia and criminal behaviour and carrying out their own research and investigations.
