As part of the Level 3 course you will be undertaking 2 qualifications: • Level 3 Health and Social Care: Principles and Contexts: Certificate • Advanced Subsidiary GCE in Health and Social Care The 2 qualifications are equivalent to 1.5 A-Levels, which if learners are successful in progressing onto the 2nd year of study can be topped up to 3 A-Level equivalents.
The qualifications enable you to develop knowledge, skills and understanding within the context of health and social care services. As part of the course you will be expected to study skills such as digital literacy, employability, application of number or communication. There may be work placement opportunities for learners to develop practical skills and put their college based knowledge into practice.
What Will I Learn?
Topics on the 2 qualifications include the following current issues in relation to Health and Social Care in Wales: • Principles of care and safe practice within outcome focused person-centred care • Factors affecting individuals’ growth and development across the lifespan and how this impacts on outcomes, care and support needs • Promoting the rights of individuals across the lifespan. • Promoting health and well-being • Supporting health, well-being and resilience in Wales
5 GCSEs at Grade C or above to include Maths/Numeracy and English Language/Welsh. Alternative equivalent qualifications can be discussed at interview.4 GCSEs at Grade C or above to include Maths and English and successful completion of the L2 Health and Social Care: Core (Adults, Children and Young People). A successful DBS check and application for the update service on the DBS check. All applicants will be provided with a “Suitability for Care pro-forma“ that must be completed.
To achieve this qualification, candidates must pass: • Three externally-set non-examination assessments that are marked in the centre that will be taken throughout the qualification. • Two externally-set, externally-marked exams
