You will study a range of units such as Employment in the Uniformed Public Services, Public Service Skills and Improving Health and Fitness for Entry to the Public Services. In addition to these units, you will study the Essential Skills of Communication, Application of Number and ICT.
4 GCSEs at grades A*- D including Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh, or completion of a full vocational programme at Level 1 which must also include GCSE Maths & English/Welsh at grades A*- D or equivalent such as Level 1 Communications and Application of Number. Learners on this course need to have satisfactory clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
You will be invited to attend an interview. During this interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
To gain the Level 2 Diploma in Public Services you must complete a range of written and practical assessments. Assessment will cover practical skills, oral questioning, assignment work and written questions. You will receive feedback on your progress throughout the course. You will need to be prepared to participate in regular physical fitness activities and outdoor activities as part of your course assessments. You will also have to complete externally marked exams.
On successful completion of this course and gaining a distinction grade, you may be able to progress to the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Uniformed Public Services.
