1) Completion of a previous level 3 program. (BTEC level 3 etc) * 2) Mature students, over 21, will be considered on an interview basis where they can show competence for the course. 3) Admission requirement for an undergraduate degree programme is 80 UCAS points from 6 or 12 unit GCE/VCE qualifications, supported by three GCSEs at grade C or above.
*Level 3 equivalent qualification does not have to be computing discipline. I.e. the course is designed to start at the beginning and build learners skills, knowledge and confidence.
Assessment is carried out by coursework activities within the units studied. These typically will involve students applying skills and knowledge taught to complete coursework objectives. For example, in Web Development you will be taught how to create a modern interactive web site, you will then be expected to create a web site based on a vocational based brief issued by a client. Some units have small in class tests such as maths and the work placement unit, in year 2, will require a specific number of hours to be completed with an employer.
Upon completion of the course, you can move straight into work in the IT industry. You can if you wish top up to the full degree at USW University of South Wales, with 1 additional year of study. The Foundation Degree ICT is a complete qualification in its own right with USW certification and cap and gown graduation ceremony. Upon completion you will be able to go straight into work within the IT sector or top up to full degree at university.
