You will study; Units that reflect the needs of the Hairdressing and Beauty profession. Employment Standards and Health & Safety, while further preparing you for a career within this sector.
You will also study Essential Skills in Communication & Application of Number and Information Technology. The course contains both theory and practical based lessons with many opportunities to work within a commercial environment.
You will require 3 GCSEs at grades A*- E including English Language/Welsh and Maths/Numeracy or a foundation course qualification including Essential Skills at Entry Level 3, as well as a reference from a previous tutor. You may also be asked to complete a practical skills task.
We are looking for learners with a passion for the Hair and Beauty industry. You will be invited to participate in pre-course guidance activities which will include a course presentation. Relevant uniform and equipment is needed for this course; a full list will be provided. You will be required to undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
You will be assessed via a range of methods which include continual assessment, through observation of your practical work, the completion of a portfolio, theoretical evidence and assignment work. There are external examinations and Essential Skills portfolios or controlled tasks.
On successful completion of this programme you will be able to progress onto a Level 2 Beauty Therapy programme or Level 2 Hairdressing programme. Level 2/3 is strongly recommended to achieve your full potential for the professional requirements of the Industry.
