As part of your course you will study a variety of topics such as Risks and Hazards in Sport and Active Leisure; Taking Part in Exercise and Fitness; How the Body Works; Planning Own Fitness Programme; Leading a Sports and Active Leisure Activity; Job Opportunities in Sport and Active Leisure and Physical Activities for Children.
You will require 3 GCSEs at A*- E, which must include Maths and English/Welsh, or completion of a full vocational programme at Entry 3 which must also include GCSE Maths & English/Welsh at grades A*-E or equivalent such as Entry 3 ESW Communications and Application of Number. Plus satisfactory references.
You will be invited to attend an interview. During this interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
To gain the Level 1 in Sport you must complete internal assessments in all units. Assessment will cover practical skills, oral questioning, assignment work and written questions. All units are assessed, graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded.
On successful completion of this course you may be able to progress to the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport. You could also apply for employment within a number of areas in the sports industry, e.g. a leisure centre attendant, or sports coach.
