Level 2 in Performing Arts

The course is designed to develop knowledge and skills in a range of subjects within the Creative and Performing Arts focusing on dance, drama and singing. Students will also learn about the variety of jobs available in the industry.


The course has a practical focus and students will take part in a variety of performance projects including involvement in the prestigious Shakespeare School’s Festival (performed at various professional working theatre’s within the local area) , a Jazz Dance show and a Musical Thaetre performance; as well as devised pieces, monologue preparation and developing industry understanding and context.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grades A*- D preferably including English/Welsh and Maths/Numeracy or ESW at Level 2, or a Level 1 sector skills course qualification.


You will be asked to take part in an audition. A willingness to participate fully in performance activities is essential. Students will take part in an audition proving their skills and qualities in dance/drama/singing.

Assessment

There is continuous assessment throughout the course for practical and written assignments. All units are internally assessed and externally moderated. On successful completion of this qualification an overall grade is given of Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Career Progression

The course is equivalent to 4 GCSEs at grades A-C. Learners must achieve a MERIT grade at the L2 standard to successfully be in a position to progress on to the RSL (95 Credits) Diploma in the Creative and Performing Arts course. Alternatively students could access a range of courses at Level 3 depending on their achievement in their vocational and Core subjects. All offers subject to grading and audition/interview process.
