New! Level 3 Train Driving Apprenticeship Pathway
The content of this Pathway has been agreed by the TFW/CYC Train Driver Steering Group. This is the only Apprenticeship Pathway in the Train Driver sector approved for use in Wales that is eligible for Welsh Government funding.
About the Pathway
The EAL Level 3 Diploma in Train Driving is a competence-based qualification requiring work-based evidence of the learner's competent ability and demonstration of their underpinning knowledge and understanding in a range of train driving activities including: preparing for duty, communicating effectively, preparing and operating trains for service, responding to train faults and out of course situations; and customer service. It has 834 Guided Learning Hours and a Total Qualification Time 895 hours.
The qualification is designed for learners who are undertaking formal training as a train driver in the transport sector and provides recognition of their competence. The pathway is expected to take a minimum of 12 months to complete.
Consultation period
On behalf of Welsh Government, Coleg y Cymoedd and Transport for Wales is contracted to undertake a four-week public consultation on the development of the New Level 3 Train Driver Apprenticeship Pathway for Wales.
We are inviting feedback on the draft Pathway; and would be interested to hear from apprentices, employers, training providers, awarding bodies, assessors, and other stakeholders in Wales to ensure the Pathway is fit for purpose.
