Celebration of Shwmae Sumae Day

The college celebrated its first national Shwmae Sumae Day, providing a variety of activities on all campuses. The day provided an ideal opportunity to celebrate the Welsh language, whilst also raising money for Ty Hafan.

Students and staff were encouraged to greet each other, making use of any Welsh they have learnt. The Learning Centres on all campuses provided a hub for a number of Welsh interest quizzes, with prizes offered for those ‘giving Welsh a go’ and also displayed resources that can help those learning Welsh or those interested in learning Welsh.

Singer songwriter Delyth McLean provided live entertainment at the Nantgarw campus whilst Care students sold Welsh Language Christmas cards and decorations. Staff and students also received a discount and free treats on refreshments purchased from the café and refectories.
