Jo qualified as a paediatric nurse in September 2000. She has experience of working on paediatric trauma & orthopaedics, medical and surgical wards before she settled into Accident & Emergency nursing where she had to learn fast and act quicker! Jo primarily cared for children and their families but also completed further training to allow her to care for adult patients. With this additional training, Jo secured herself a job as a District Nurse which she loved.
After meeting her now husband, Jo wished to move away from shift work and landed a Monday to Friday 9 to 5 job in an office as a nurse in an insurance company assisting injured and absent employees to return to work. Although she quickly rose through the ranks to Team Leader, she felt that her skills were diminishing not growing.
In 2016, Jo jumped clear of her comfort zone and became self-employed. She is the proud owner of her own business, Daisy First Aid Cardiff & Vale, teaching children, parents, carers and professionals paediatric first aid. Jo is proud to announce that she has achieved that elusive work/life balance! The call to return to the NHS has never been far away though so in September 2018, Jo returned to University to study a Return to Practice course; she will re-join the NMC register in 2019 and is carefully considering her future options, a future that seems very bright indeed.
In her spare time, you will find Jo running around after 2 young mini-me's, nagging her husband to buy her a puppy, socialising with friends and family and generally loving life!
Jo has experience in:
