Julie has been in adult education for more than 30 years and is passionate about helping and supporting students to realise and achieve their full potential. She is currently the Deputy Head of the South Wales Business School at the University of South Wales.
Julie dropped out of sixth form after completing her AS levels, got a job in the NHS and then bought a house - all at the age of 18.
After having a family, she fell into adult tutoring almost by accident – ending up delivering a wide range of ICT, life skills and confidence building courses throughout the communities of South Wales. She always regretted not going to University and in her 30’s enrolled as a mature student on a Business Information Management degree at the University of Glamorgan.
After graduating, Julie applied for a job at the University and loved it so much that she’s never left. She thinks working at the University (now South Wales) is amazing as everyday she gets to meet students from all walks of life and from all over the world.
Julie loves all types of live music, but especially rock and the louder the better…you can’t beat a bit of AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams J.
