Linsey Waters
Linsey Waters – probation officer
Linsey is a probation officer. She currently designs and implements alternative approaches to offender management for high risk offenders in Wales.
Linsey re-assessed her ambition to ‘do art’ and gave up a fine art degree, after being asked to paint wearing a blindfold with ink and a broccoli stem (true story). Subsequently she spent her twenties dipping in and out of the hospitality, recruitment and sales sectors. At 27 (and fairly disillusioned) she left London and a stressful job in recruitment to travel the world, but somehow ended up in Wales, settled with a partner and her first mortgage!
After reluctantly falling back into recruitment, Linsey started to volunteer with a substance misuse provider and realised that she really enjoyed working with people with challenging personal circumstances. After spotting an ad in the local paper – she applied to re-train as a probation officer. Linsey qualified at 30 and had her first of 3 sons the same year. Since then she has worked in generic offender management, high risk offender management, Youth Offending Service, Courts and Prisons. She has a dog, a cat and the aforementioned children with her partner and has dabbled in property development for about 10 years.
Linsey has experience in:
- Recruitment
- Project management
- Change management
- Criminal Justice
- Property development and management
- Relationship management/stakeholder engagement
- Report/bid writing
