Learner Support - Support for Literacy and Numeracy
At Coleg y Cymoedd we have dedicated specialist support to assist with any literacy and/or numeracy support needs.
The College is committed to ensure that all learners fulfil their potential and that you improve your skills and, where required, any skills requirements are addressed to ensure that you have the necessary skills to achieve in life and in the world of work.
To achieve this at Cymoedd we have developed a new skills strategy; Cymoedd STAR (Skills To Achieve Results)
Most learners will attend timetabled SOLA (Supported Online Learning Activity) sessions with the aim of improving their individual literacy and numeracy skills. In addition to this, there will also be in class support and timetabled support (where support needs are identified).
Learners can also book support sessions with the literacy and numeracy team. Click here to book a session.
Inspire 2 Achieve (I2A) Coaches
College staff monitor attendance and other indicators that may hint that a learner is struggling.
When a concern is identified the learner will be contacted by one of our Inspire 2 Achieve learning coaches and a way forward will be agreed that might include extra support. The aim is to help learners complete their course and successfully achieve their goals.
