Apprenticeships
If you are employed or self-employed, an apprenticeship could be for you. You will receive top quality training, develop your skills and gain qualifications on the job.

As an employee you will earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain job specific skills. You will undertake training towards a nationally recognised qualification. Apprenticeships are open to all ages subject to specific criteria.

On applying for an apprenticeship you will be invited along to meet one of our assessors and discuss what is involved in an apprenticeship, you will also be required to undertake an initial assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.

Foundation Apprenticeship (Level 2)

You will work towards a QCF-NVQ Certificate Level 2 in your chosen vocational area together with a Technical Certificate and Essential Skills Wales in Application of Number, Communication and Digital Literacy. You will receive off the job training which may include attendance at college. You will be assigned a work based assessor who will visit you in your workplace and monitor your progress. On completion you will have the opportunity to progress to a Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements
You must be employed within the relevant sector and in most cases you will require 4 GCSEs at grades A*- D including English/Welsh and Maths or a Level 1 qualification in the relevant area. You will also undertake an interview and entry assessment. For some pathways you may require additional qualifications.

 

Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3)

You will work towards a QCF-NVQ Diploma Level 3 in your chosen vocational area together with a Technical Certificate, Essential Skills Wales in Application of Number, Communication and Digital Literacy. You will be assigned a work based assessor who will visit you in your workplace and monitor your progress. After completing the Apprenticeship at Level 3 you could move onto a Higher Apprenticeship or Higher Education course at University or at Coleg y Cymoedd.

You will also undertake an interview and entry assessment. For some pathways you may require additional qualifications.

 

Higher Apprenticeships (Level 4/5)

The Higher Apprenticeship is a work based programme for employed people working in a management or senior positions. This programme provides opportunities to achieve qualifications at Levels 4 and 5. The Higher Apprenticeship provides funded training that is specific to the industry sector, alongside Essential Skills Wales and a Technical certificate.

Entry Requirements
You must be employed within the relevant sector and in most cases you will require 2 A Levels or a Level 3 qualification in the relevant area. You will also undertake an interview and entry assessment. For some pathways you may require additional qualifications.
