What made you decide to study at Coleg y Cymoedd?
I wanted to gain some extra qualifications, experience and confidence before going to university.
Why did you choose to study this course?
I chose to study this course as I enjoyed studying health and social care in my previous school and liked the fact that we would be on placements, gaining real life experience, alongside the qualifications of the course
What are the benefits of studying at Coleg y Cymoedd?
You get to meet a variety of different people, able to attend a range of workshops, the tutors are always helpful and supportive. Your learning days are full and structured which allows you to have full days off during the week which is helpful if you need to balance work/studying/ family.
What do you intend to do next?
In September I will be going to university to study Psychology with counselling. After this I either hope to do a master’s degree in Psychology to become a clinical psychologist or go straight into the mental health sector to help transform the services in Wales.
How is the course helping you achieve your ambitions?
This course allowed me to build my confidence through working independently and my tutors supported me through the UCAS application. The Health and Social Care level 3 course also includes a psychology unit which helped me understand the basic theories before I go to university.

Studying will impact my life by opening doors and providing me with opportunities. This will allow me to have control over the life I get to live.
