Lauren Martin, 21, from Caerphilly is currently working for an IT company as an IT Support Engineer and acknowledges the role her studies at Coleg y Cymoedd played in the choice of her career.
With a keen interest in ‘Technology’, Lauren was determined to find the course that offered her the most options when eventually choosing her career path. Checking out various websites she realised that Coleg y Cymoedd had a much wider choice of courses to choose from in comparison to her local Sixth forms and other colleges.
Once she was content with her research, Lauren visited Coleg y Cymoedd and enrolled on the Level 3 Diploma in Information Technology. The course offered a variety of units which gave her the opportunity to explore Technology and decide which IT route she wanted to go down.
Speaking about her time at Coleg y Cymoedd, Lauren said” I would recommend the course and the college, the tutors are great and lessons run smoothly. There’s a wide variety of courses so there is something for everyone. The college has so much to offer potential students.
Studying is really important and has had a huge impact on my life. It has helped me develop my knowledge as well as developing study habits, time management skills and self-discipline, which is essential in the workplace.
My past years of studying has made me realise that lifelong learning is important, as it provides us with better opportunities and is good for both personal and professional development”.
Course Tutor Robert James added” Lauren was a hard-working learner who achieved top grades in each of the units she studied on the course. The most impressive thing with Lauren was that no matter what unit of work she undertook, even if it was a part of the IT field she wasn’t particularly interested in, she always did her best and made sure she achieved as high as she could. This in turn led her to successfully being employed in the IT sector.
