Overview

This course is designed for professionals who manage and administer SQL Server database infrastructures across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments using Microsoft Azure data services. It focuses on implementing and managing operational aspects of cloud-native and hybrid data platform solutions built on Azure SQL services and SQL Server. Learners will gain skills in provisioning, configuring, monitoring, securing, and optimising database resources using tools such as Azure Portal, PowerShell, CLI, and ARM templates.

What will I learn?

After completing this course, you will be able to plan and implement data platform resources, configure secure environments for database services, monitor and optimise operational resources, optimise query performance, automate database tasks, and implement high availability and disaster recover strategies. You will also learn to evaluate and implement migration strategies between Azure and on-premises environments.

Entry requirements

Learners should have foundational knowledge of Microsoft Azure and experience with T-SQL, executing queries, and evaluating results. Completion of Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) and Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) is recommended. Familiarity with SQL Server and basic database concepts is also helpful.

Assessment

The exam code is DP-300. It is a 100-minute proctored exam with a pass mark of 700 out of 1000. The exam includes scenario-based and interactive components.

Career progression

This certification qualifies professionals for roles such as Azure Database Administrator, SQL Server Administrator, or Cloud Database Engineer. With further experience and certifications, individuals can progress to senior roles like Data Platform Architect or Head of Data Infrastructure.
