This is a professional qualification for those who wish to pursue a career as a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA).
How to assess the energy efficiency of homes and produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs). This involves understanding building construction, heating systems, insulation, and how these factors impact energy usage and carbon emissions. You will also learn how to use specialised software to calculate energy ratings and generate EPCs.
Plus, one of the following:
Age over 18. It is helpful to have some experience in property or construction but not essential. We ask learners to complete a skills scan so that we can properly evaluate their level of knowledge and the support needed for each individual.
A combination of practical assessments and portfolio work. This involves completing a series of case studies, including both simulated and real-world property inspections, alongside a written portfolio demonstrating an understanding of the assessment process.
Once qualified, DEAs register with an Accreditation Scheme which accredits them to produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for individual existing homes (not newly built). It opens up opportunities to advance to retrofit roles like Retrofit Assessor or Retrofit Coordinator or moving to commercial energy assessments or transitioning into assessor training. DEAs can also leverage their skills in energy consultancy or sustainability advising.
Course dates will be discussed directly with the training provider upon successful completion of funding application. Any course dates arranged with the training provider prior to funding being secured may not be honoured – Course dates will only be confirmed once funding has been approved.
