Overview

The ITIL 4 Foundation course provides essential training for anyone involved in delivering or supporting IT-enabled services. It introduces the Service Value System (SVS), which explains how all organisational components work together to create value. The course covers modern ITSM practices and integrates approaches like Agile, DevOps, and Lean. Through interactive sessions, exercises, and exam preparation, participants gain a solid understanding of ITIL principles and how to apply them in today’s digital organisations.

  • Employed (inc. agency & zero hour contracts),

  • Full-time carer,
  • Prisoner on day release

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for the ITIL 4 Foundation course. It is suitable for anyone involved in the provision, support, or delivery of IT services, or those looking to gain a basic understanding of IT service management (ITSM) using the ITIL framework.

Assessment

Closed book multiple choice exam, lasting 60mins. 40 questions in total, requiring 26 marks to pass (65%)

Career progression

The ITIL 4 Foundation certification provides a strong starting point for a career in IT service management (ITSM) and can lead to a variety of progression opportunities, including:

  • IT Support Analyst or Service Desk Analyst (entry-level roles)
  • Progression to ITIL Specialist, Problem Manager, or Incident Manager
  • Advancement into roles like IT Service Manager, Change Manager, or IT Operations Manager
  • With experience and further ITIL certifications, potential to move into senior roles such as Head of ITSM, IT Director, or Service Delivery Manager

It’s also a valuable foundation for professionals working in DevOps, Agile, or cloud-based environments, where service management practices are increasingly integrated.

Course dates will be discussed directly with the training provider upon successful completion of funding application. Any course dates arranged with the training provider prior to funding being secured may not be honoured – Course dates will only be confirmed once funding has been approved.
