Pontyclun Apprentice runner up at national manufacturing awards

Local Apprentice, Jamie Jones from FSG Tool & Die was given National recognition at one of the UK’s most prestigious awards programmes organised by Make UK, the manufacturers’ organisation.

Jamie from Porth initially joined Coleg y Cymoedd to study engineering where his keen interest in machining gained him an apprenticeship with FSG Tool and Die based in Pontyclun.

Jamie was announced joint runner up in the national Make UK Engineering Apprentice Endeavour award which was given in recognition of the way he has learned and progressed quickly, making a marked impact on projects.  In particular his ability to input into key engineer level decisions which has proved valuable in the prototype to production journey where there are many technical challenges to overcome.
