How to apply for a course with us

We’re happy that you’re interested in joining Coleg y Cymoedd! You’ll benefit from our excellent facilities and experienced tutors who will help you achieve your goals, whether you want to go to university, start an apprenticeship or find a job.

Applying for a course is very easy and you can do it in the five simple steps that we’ve outlined below.

If you have any questions, our friendly Admissions Team are available between Monday to Friday, from 10am to 4pm. You can reach them via admissions@cymoedd.ac.uk.

Applying for a course: step by step

Find your perfect course

Find the course that suits you best by using the search bar. Search by subject name or by your career goals if you’re unsure how to get there.

Show you’re interested & apply

Your window for application is pretty big. You can apply for a course from November until the course begins in September next year. Just find the course you want and click the ‘Apply Now‘ button. Then fill out the simple application form.

Meet us to chat through everything

We will invite you to a Consultation Evening with our friendly Admissions Team and a course tutor. You’ll be able to ask any questions and get advice on the best course for you. You will also learn about the extra support we can offer you.
If you change your mind at this stage, that’s okay. Simply apply for a different course using the same process as above.

Receive your offer to study

After the Consultation Evening, we will either offer you a place or suggest a more suitable course for you. You can accept your offer via the Coleg y Cymoedd app.

Enrol and get ready to join us!

Term starts at the beginning of September, so we will send you all you need to know in August, including an invitation and an enrolment pack. It will have all the information you need to enrol on your course.
You can check the status of your application anytime by using your online application account.

Questions you might have

Q: Will I have an interview?

A: We don’t tend to hold formal interviews. Instead, you’ll be given a timeslot to attend a small group talk about your chosen course. You can use this opportunity to ask the tutor any questions you might have, or if you’d like, request a one-to-one chat with them.

Q: What if I have a question about additional things, like learning support, grants, safeguarding?

A: We’re here to help with whatever you need. Whether you ask us a question online or in person at the course talk, we’ll point you to the person with the right answer.

Q: Who will be at the course talk?

A: You’ll be greeted by our Admissions Team and will be taken to see the course tutor when your group talk is about to start. On the reception desk, we’ll have a full list of each course tutor in attendance and the support staff who can help you with the likes of wellbeing or financial information.

Q: How many applications can I make?

A: You can apply to as many courses as you like, meaning you may receive offers from multiple courses at the same time. But ultimately, you will have to decide on the right course for you, and in the end, you can only accept one offer and sign up for one college course.

Q: What if I start my course and don’t like it?

A: These things happen, and that’s why we allow a whole half term for you to decide whether you like your course or not. If you don’t, let us know, and we’ll help you figure out a solution, even if that means switching to a different course altogether.

Q: What if I don’t get the grades I need for my chosen course?

A: If you’re ever in this situation, don’t worry. Our Admissions Team will help you. Just reach out to them. No matter what your grades, there’s a course for you.

Q: Who do I go to if I have questions about my application?

A: Our friendly Admissions Team are available between Monday to Friday, from 10am to 4pm. You can reach them via admissions@cymoedd.ac.uk.
