Safeguarding at Cymoedd

It is important that all learners who are studying at Coleg y Cymoedd are protected from abuse and harm.

Coleg y Cymoedd are committed to keeping learners safe and have polices in place to ensure this. Each Campus has a designated Safeguarding Co-Ordinator who is part of the Wellbeing and Safeguarding team. The Safeguarding Co-Ordinator will respond to safeguarding concerns and will comply with the All Wales Safeguarding Procedures and Keeping Learners Safe.

If a Learner is at risk of significant harm, or illegal abuse is reported these will be investigated in accordance with the Safeguarding Policy, Keeping Learners Safe and the All-Wales Safeguarding Procedures.

If you are worried about yourself or someone you know, please report this to your tutor. Alternatively, Learners can access the Wellbeing and Safeguarding Team who can support learners through difficult times.

At Coleg y Cymoedd, there are members of staff who wear Purple Lanyards, these members of staff take a lead with safeguarding matters.

Coleg y Cymoedd is committed to learner safety and the reduction of radicalisatioin and extremism.

Prevent is a National Strategy by the Government whereby there is a duty for countering terrorism, radicalisation and extremist views.

If Learners are suspected of involvement in radicalisation or sharing extremist views, the Wellbeing and Safeguarding Team will support where appropriate.

Alternatively, you can contact the Head of Wellbeing and Safeguarding, Joel Price (Joel.Price@Cymoedd.ac.uk) who can assist when a safeguarding matter arises.
