Search for a career

There’s a huge range of higher education courses on offer at Coleg y Cymoedd. It means you don’t need to travel far to get the university education you’ve dreamed about.

Study local, go far, with higher education at Coleg y Cymoedd.

What higher education courses can I take at college?

At Coleg y Cymoedd our BA degree courses are run with our collaborative partner, the University of South Wales. It means you can get a university qualification and still study at your local campus.

Other HE courses you can enrol on include:

  • AAT – A recognised accountancy qualification.
  • Diploma – Diploma courses and professional qualifications.
  • Cert HE – Learn while you earn in your chosen career.
  • Foundation degree – Study while you work and gain a university qualification alongside work experience.
  • HNC – A Higher National Certificate is a standalone qualification that’s equivalent to the first year of a university degree.
  • Apprenticeships A level four, five or six apprenticeship leads to a university level qualification.

Higher education bursaries and funding

You could be eligible for student finance for higher education courses. It doesn’t matter that you’ve chosen to study at your local college instead of the more traditional university route.

In 2025/26, undergraduate students in Wales could get a grant of between £1,000 and £8,100 and a maintenance loan of £4,245-£11,345. Each student can claim a total package of £12,345 for full-time study, made up of the combined grant and loan.

More support for higher education study

You won’t miss out on student life by choosing to study at college instead of university. There’s a range of clubs and activities to try with Cymoedd Xtra.

You can also enjoy our on-campus restaurants, salons and fitness facilities before, after and between classes.

All students can use learning support services for extra help with literacy and numeracy. And we’re committed to access to education for everyone, so learners with disabilities, sensory impairment and additional needs can get extra assistance too.
