University bespoke talks can be arranged by the UCAS Coordinator tailored to the subject area that the learners are studying at Coleg y Cymoedd.Description for this block. The annual UCAS Parents Information Evening is scheduled for Monday 30th September 2024. Tickets will be available for the learners to register on Eventbrite closer to the time. This event is directed at learners who are applying to university to start at university in 2025. The event is held at the Nantgarw campus.
University talks will be delivered during the evening. A series of short, 30-minute talks, delivered by representatives from South Wales-based universities, will be provided covering such topics as:

The financial costs associated with Higher Education study
In addition, there will be a HE Fair, where representatives from a range of universities, as well as staff from the College, will be present to offer information, advice and guidance on how students can go about making informed choices regarding their post-college options and to answer questions from students and parents/carers.
The UCAS Coordinator works with groups across the College to raise educational aspirations. Learners across campuses participate in programmes such as the reaching wider to support with their future decisions.
The college has a designated member of staff to offer advice and guidance to HE learners on how to apply for Disabled Students Allowance through Student Finance Wales/Student Finance England and where necessary support learners to arrange a Post 16 Diagnostic assessment.
