It’s time to choose your future. With four campuses and hundreds of full-time courses, part-time courses and apprenticeships for school leavers, Coleg y Cymoedd is the smart alternative to school sixth form.
There are hundreds of courses you can take at Coleg y Cymoedd when you’re 16-18 years old.
A lot of our 16-18 year old learners take the next step with A levels and AS levels but that’s not your only choice when you finish school.
You can also enrol on:
College age in the UK is usually 16-18 years old, but you can take any of these learning routes if you’re older too – have a look at our adult education courses.
There are four Coleg y Cymoedd campuses spread across the Welsh Valleys.
School leavers can enrol on a range of traditional A level courses or vocational subjects to kick-start their career.
It’s a big step, from school to college. We’ll support you to reach your ambitions at Coleg y Cymoedd, during this exciting time.
All students can access learning support services for extra help with literacy and numeracy. And we’re committed to access to education for everyone. That means learners with disabilities, sensory impairment and additional needs can get extra assistance too.
We also understand there’s more to college life than studying. You can try clubs and activities with Cymoedd Xtra, where there’s something for every interest.
Before, after and between classes, our learners enjoy the on-campus restaurants, salons and sports facilities.
““I really didn’t want to give up football for college, but I wanted to get my A levels. Coleg y Cymoedd was the perfect solution for me as a college in Wales with TASS accreditation.”
A lot of college courses up to level three are free for 16-18 year olds in Wales. Level three courses include A levels, as well as some vocational diploma courses and apprenticeships.
You could also be eligible for Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) to help with the cost of continuing your studies at college.
