Aardman : Animation

Monday 1st July (9am-4pm)

Workshop (1 day)

Description

Aardman Animations is world famous for its endearing characters brought to life through Stop Motion. This one-day workshop delves deeper into the animation form.

The Aardman Academy’s Home | Hannah Brooks  and Zoe Hutber   (zoehutber.com) will be hosting this one day event. They will use their talent and experience to brief and guide you through every activity.

We’ll kick off the day with a short film exercise exploring the impact of timings in your animation.

While making your own clay character you’ll explore design by thinking about its 3d body shape and what effect it has on your characters ‘performance’.

You’ll then test out your new clay puppet through some squashing and stretching animation!

The afternoon will see you planning and shooting your scene, learning about performance, key poses, points of difference and ‘LAVs’

Age Suggestion 16+

Designed for those who have had some stop motion experience.

All materials needed for these activities will be supplied

For this project you’re be briefed to film a Behind The Scenes package of content that will ultimately make up some of the “Make!” social media marketing. Creature FX : Like they do in the movies

Monday 1st July (6pm-9pm), Tuesday 2nd July (9am-6pm), Wednesday 3rd July (9am-6pm) Thursday 4th July (9am-6pm)

Workshop (1 evening, 3 days)

Description

When delivering Creature FX solutions for the film and television industry, you’re often given very limited time!  This free workshop will give participants the unique opportunity to gain insights into real-world CFX delivery. Taking an idea from concept to camera… just like they do in the movies!

With supportive guidance from vastly experienced industry professionals, you’ll have a taster of what it’s like to be on a Hollywood production.

You won’t be alone… just as happens on production, you’ll be in teams, which will allow different skills to develop and shine.

The director will give your team the brief, followed by the build leads helping you conceive a deliverable CFX solution.

Over the workshop days, you’ll have supported access to a full props workshop and suitable materials, which will allow you to make your creature effect. The result will be a working prototype.

On the final afternoon, you’ll get to screen test your creature, under the watchful eye of the director… the same as happens on a real-world production.

NB:

•             The Concept to Camera workshop has limited spaces, so early sign-up is recommended.

•             This workshop is for people who have some familiarity with tools and making.
