You will learn:
• Engineering Principles
• Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team
• Engineering Product Design and Manufacture
• Electronic Devices and Circuits
• Assembling and Testing Electronic Circuits (PEO)
You will require 5 A* - C grades at GCSE including Maths, English Language/Welsh (First Language) and Science or a Level 2 qualification with an appropriate selection of units. You will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
Assessment is specifically designed to fit the purpose and objective of the qualification. It includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications in the sector. There are three main forms of assessment that you need to be aware of: external, internal and synoptic.
A further years study is the usual progression, obtaining a Diploma in engineering and further NVQ units. It is also possible to obtain an apprenticeship at this stage as the qualification obtained is part of the apprenticeship framework. Most students proceed to a second year which gives better apprenticeship and higher education opportunities
