Care staff at Coleg y Cymoedd are delighted with the achievements of a group of learners studying on the Level 3 Extended Diploma for Children’s Care, Learning and Development at the Rhondda campus.
Course Tutor, Kelly Tanner stated “The College has an excellent reputation in the Care Sector and this is another shining example of the calibre of our learners. All thirteen learners have worked extremely hard over the past year; it’s a demanding course which includes a range of both internal and external assessments.
As a team, we are all incredibly proud of the learners who have achieved grades equivalent to 4 Grade A at A Level; many of who have been accepted at a variety of universities. We wish them all the best in their future studiesâ€.
Julie James is one of the group celebrating their success. Julie enrolled on an Entry Level course at the Rhondda campus, with no formal qualifications but with a determination to succeed she progressed from level 1 – 2 –3 onto the Extended Diploma. Throughout the course, Julie along with fellow learners has combined additional study for GCSE Maths and English alongside their main award.
Speaking about her results Julie said “When I started at the college I never thought I would be leaving to study a Degree Programme. I enrolled with no formal qualifications and whilst at times it has been hard I have to say a huge thank you to the staff at the college for their support and patience; without their help I would not have been progressing on to a Degree course.
