Which campus should I visit?

Our open days run across all of our four campuses. When you register your interest you can choose to visit the campus that’s closest to you, or the one where you’d like to study because it has the facilities you’re most interested in.

How to make the most of open evening

These are our five top tips to get all the information you need when you visit us for an open event.

1

Find your perfect course

Before your Open Event, jot down everything you want to know and the questions you have for tutors or other staff. Make sure you bring your list with you on the day.

2

Check your ticket

Your Open Event ticket will tell you which campus you’ve booked to visit, as well as the date and time slot. You can arrive at any time during your time slot, but make sure you give yourself long enough to speak to everyone you need to.

3

Plan how you’ll get here

If you’re arriving by public transport, find out how you can travel to the college. If you’re driving, there’s visitor parking, although it can be busy.

4

Find out where to go and when

Your first stop is our learner ambassadors near the entrance. They’ll greet you and tell you where to go next. You’ll probably have a mix of group presentations and one-to-one meetings.

5

Check you’ve covered everything

Remember that list you made? Check it while you’re still at the open event so you can make sure you’ve spoken to everyone you needed to before you leave.

Apply on the night

Once we’ve shown you what a great place to learn Coleg y Cymoedd is, the team in the Engagement Hyb can help you fill in an application.

Frequently asked questions

Any questions? Find out everything else you need to know about attending an open evening.

How do I register?

Use the buttons at the top of this page to register with Eventbrite for the open event you want to attend.

Where can I park?

There is visitor parking at each of our four campuses. Our car parks can get busy during our open events, so arrive in good time if you’re driving, or choose public transport if you can.

I can’t drive – how do I get there?

All campuses have public transport links with Cardiff, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil and other surrounding towns. Find out more about travelling to the colleges.

Can I bring anyone with me?

Yes, you can visit with parents or carers, other family members and friends. Only you as a prospective learner need a ticket – you don’t need to book a ticket for each of them.

Is Coleg y Cymoedd accessible?

Yes, each of our college buildings is accessible for visitors in wheelchairs and those with reduced mobility.

Can I book a quiet session?

If you’d prefer to visit while it’s quieter, we’d advise you to attend for the final hour from 6.30pm-7.30pm. Our Open Events are usually much quieter at that time.

What shall I do if I can’t make it?

You can cancel your ticket and rebook it for a different time, day or campus if you need to.  Just click the link in your confirmation email to rebook.

What do I do if I’m running late?

Don’t worry, as long as you’re not so late that you miss the entire Open Event, you should still be able to visit our stands and talk to the team. Find a learner ambassador near the entrance who can help quickly direct you to sessions.
