The course allows the learners build the knowledge, understanding and skills they need for career progression or further study.
For the BTEC Award in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the learner will study: Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace Communications for Engineering Technicians Mathematics for Engineering Technicians Mechanical Principles of Engineering Systems Computer-aided Drafting in Engineering Industrial Robot Technology The learner would also study the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations (PEO) which makes full use of our sector leading mechanical workshops. In the PEO’s you would study: • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements • Working efficiently & effectively in engineering • Using and communicating technical information • Producing components using hand fitting techniques • Preparing and using lathes for turning operations • Preparing and Using milling machines
5 GCSEs A*-C including a B grade in Maths, C or above in English Language & Science or a Level 2 qualification with the appropriate selection and grades of units. On successful completion of this course previous learners have progressed into careers in many engineering disciplines. Many learners progress onto level 3 Diplomas in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. There is a clear route through to EngTech and progression to Incorporated and Chartered Engineering status. Level 3 Diplomas are valued by employers and higher education institutions.
You will be required to purchase Uniform (T Shirt and Trousers), safety boots & safety glasses (approx £55). Please discuss this at interview stage with a tutor after you have applied.
