Seven learners and five staff members from Coleg y Cymoedd have returned from an extraordinary educational visit to Welsh Patagonia – a region in Argentina where Welsh language and culture have thrived for over 150 years.
The group travelled first to Buenos Aires before heading into Y Wladfa, where they immersed themselves in the heritage, stories and landscapes shaped by the original Welsh settlers. Their experience focused on four key themes: cultural connection, language development, global awareness, and personal growth.

Key highlights included:
Throughout the visit, learners spoke Welsh with local communities, sang Welsh songs, and saw first hand how the language and culture have been preserved generations after the first settlers arrived.
More than a sightseeing trip, this experience deepened learners’ sense of identity, broadened their understanding of global heritage, and created friendships and memories that span continents.
This once-in-a-lifetime trip was fully-funded by Taith. Taith’s mission is to create life-changing global learning experiences for young people in Wales, and this journey truly captured that spirit.
