Cymoedd Learners Step Into Global Climate Negotiations at COP30 Simulation
21 November 2025Our A Level learners had an incredible opportunity this month, taking part in the Schools Connect COP30 Climate Negotiation Simulation at the Temple of Peace in Cardiff.
Working alongside students from across Wales, they stepped into the shoes of world leaders, NGOs, lobby groups and the media – debating real climate proposals and using live data modelling to see how their decisions could shape the planet’s future.
The fast-paced simulation challenged them to:
- understand the scale and urgency of climate action
- collaborate and negotiate under pressure
- test ideas using real scientific data
- explore how events like COP29 and COP30 actually work behind the scenes.
The experience forms part of the British Council’s Schools Connect Programme, which helps young people build global awareness and the confidence to lead on important issues.
It also ties directly into our own sustainability work at Cymoedd. Through our Every Day, Every Decision strategy, we’re helping learners think critically, act responsibly and play an active role in creating positive change.
