You will study units that reflect the needs of the Catering profession, while further preparing you for a career within this sector you will study; Aspects of hospitality & catering, Employment Standards, Health & Safety and Customer Service.
The course contains both theory and practical Hospitality & catering based lessons with many opportunities to work within a commercial environment.
4 GCSEs at grade D or above (including Maths and English or Welsh first Language), or relevant level 1 qualifications. There is a practical skills assessment as part of the interview process for this course.
You will be assessed via a range of methods which include continual assessment, through observation of your practical work, the completion of a portfolio, theoretical evidence and assignment work. Assessment of Essential Skills is by an online confirmatory test and a written controlled task.
As a result of successfully completing this programme you may decide to enter employment as a commis chef or waiter. If you decide to progress onto the Level 3 Professional Cookery programme, which is strongly recommended to achieve your full potential for the professional requirements of the industry.
