Cymoedd learners and successful Oxford candidates are proud to have received ‘The Worshipful Livery Company of Wales’ Award.

Three A Level students from Coleg y Cymoedd have been honoured with The Worshipful Livery Company of Wales award in recognition of their exceptional academic performance.

The college was pleased to welcome Dr Jane Croad, Junior Warden of the Worshipful Livery Company to its Nantgarw campus to present the award and a gift to students Seth Olner, Grace Bennett, and Amber-Leigh Mitchell.

Seth, Grace, and Amber completed their studies at the college in 2024 and are all set to attend Oxford University after achieving remarkable A Level results.

Grace earned A*, A*, A in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths and secured a place at Hertford College, Oxford, to study Biochemistry.

Seth achieved A*, A, A in History, English Literature, and Government and Politics and will be studying Law at Oxford’s New College.

Amber-Leigh has secured a spot to study Classics and English at Trinity College, Oxford University, after receiving an A* and A in A Level Drama and Theatre Studies, English Language and Literature, having already completed a Level 3 in Art and Design.

Presenting the award, Dr Jane Croad, congratulated the three on their results and on securing places at Oxford University.

He explained that one of the main objectives of The Worshipful Livery Company of Wales is to promote education in Wales, and the ‘Schools Awards’ offer an opportunity to acknowledge learners who have achieved outstanding results.

Reflecting on their accomplishments and the award, Principal Jonathan Morgan said, “We are so proud of Amber-Leigh, Grace, and Seth. This is a significant achievement for them, and I know they have worked hard to meet Oxford’s requirements.

“We wish them every success in the future and believe that, given their dedication, they will achieve their ambitions. I hope they remain connected with the college to inspire future learners.

“I would like to thank The Worshipful Livery Company of Wales; we appreciate their ongoing support of Cymoedd learners, and I’m sure they will agree – Amber-Leigh, Grace, and Seth are deserving recipients of the Award.”
