This course is designed for people who want to learn Welsh as a second language, from scratch.
So all you need is an enthusiasm for learning (and practising!) Welsh.
What will I study?
You will learn vocabulary and language-patterns covering a variety of basic, day-to-day conversational scenarios, for example greetings and introductions, likes and dislikes, exchanging personal details, discussing the weather, your family, telling the time and giving brief opinions.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be undertaken in class through tutor- observation of your oral, written and listening skills. It is an informal way of learning, with no exams, and involving pair/group work with your class-colleagues as well as interaction with your tutor.
Career Opportunities and Progression
On successful completion of the course you will be able to progress on to our Welsh Year 2 course.
In terms of career opportunities, even basic Welsh is considered favourably by most employers in Wales. Therefore this course will help to set you on the road to increasing your employability.
Welsh language skills are also useful if your children/grand-children are attending Welsh-medium school and you want to keep up with them/help them with their homework!
