It is important to us that the children’s experience at nursery is one that is enjoyed and remembered. We have a full range of activities which develops their skills and enjoyment in all areas.
Activities are planned which encourage the children to take turns, and play cooperatively with others, understanding other children’s feelings etc.
We encourage the children to wash their hands and brush their teeth and encourage the children to become independent by allowing them to dress themselves etc.
We have a range of activities both indoors and outdoors that encourages physical development – this can be fine and large motor skills from drawing, puzzles and shape sorters to pedaling, climbing, balancing and jumping.
We provide a range of activities that encourage early maths, from sorting colours and patterns and shapes, counting numbers, matching games, measuring and pouring etc.
All play encourages language development, and we enjoy songs and rhymes, looking at books, simple games and mark making activities.
We enjoy a full range of messy activities including painting, gluing and making a sensory mess with different substances.
We have the ever favourite home corner which has been transformed into a supermarket, recycling centre, hairdressers and dental surgery – encouraging role play in all situations that help build familiarity for the children allowing them to understand the world in which we live.
The children love small world figures, dolls houses, garages, zoos and farms and we have an array of such play equipment
When we are a little quieter at nursery, we are keen to explore the wider environment which includes visits to the college library, market garden and forest school. We take walks to the local park and village shops whenever the weather allows.
