This course combines theoretical and practical elements for learners who have successfully completed the Level 1 Diploma in Plastering and wish to develop their skills and knowledge in the Plastering industry and seek employment or a Modern Apprenticeship.
What Will I Learn?
The Level 2 Diploma is the technical certificate part of the Foundation Modern Apprenticeship framework. The course includes several units which are each split into two, to test your theoretical knowledge and your practical ability. You will also need to work on a timed practical test. You will be required to complete Essential Skills at level 2 in both Communications and Application of Number.
The units covered include: Safe Working Practices; Information, quantities and communication with others; Building methods; How to apply plaster materials to internal and external surfaces; Dry lining and plaster-board products; Sand and cement screeds; Secure fibrous plaster components. Alongside this course you will also study the Welsh Baccalaureate.
You will have successfully completed the Level 1 Diploma in Plastering.
You will complete a range of practical tasks, projects and written assignments and produce a portfolio of evidence. You will also complete an external on-line examination

- On completion of this qualification, you will be able to seek employment in the construction industry as an apprentice plasterer and complete an NVQ at Level 2 which will complete the Foundation Modern Apprenticeship framework.
Average salary: £17,297
Plasterers apply plaster and cement mixtures to walls and ceilings, fix fibrous sheets and cast and fix ornamental plasterwork to the interior or exterior of buildings.
There are no formal academic entry requirements, though GCSEs/S grades are advantageous. Entry is typically through an apprenticeship or traineeship approved by ConstructionSkills leading to an NVQ/SVQ in General Construction at Level 3.
