Course Information
The Barbering qualification has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in; the creative art of cutting men’s hair, the specialist work of cutting facial hair, how to provide effective shampooing and conditioning or styling services patterning hair and how to offer a good consultation service for clients.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop your practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own salon services
What Will I Learn?
This Barbering qualification will develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to enable you to advise and consult with men on the type of haircut and facial hair shaping the way they want, but just as importantly what is suitable for them. You will also learn how to work in a safe manner throughout the service protecting both yourself and your clients.
Entry Requirements
You will require either 3 GCSEs grades A*- D, a Level 1 sector skills course qualification or a successful interview. You may also be required to undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy.
Applicants with appropriate experience who do not necessarily meet the academic qualifications may be considered.
Assessment
You will be assessed via a range of methods which include continual assessment, through observation of your practical work, the completion of a portfolio, theoretical evidence and assignment work. There may also be external examinations.
