Course Information
The use of computer aided design (CAD) systems in industry has become an essential part of the modern working environment. It is used at all stages of the design process, from conceptualisation and production of working drawings to the production of virtual reality images. Modern CAD systems are ever developing and have changed the computing skills required by a designer.
This qualification give the opportunity for you to develop the knowledge and skills required to create parametric solid models of engineering components and assemblies. You will improve your understanding of CAD Parametric Modelling, in terms of hardware, software and modelling techniques.
What Will I Learn?
How to use CAD hardware and operating systems To use a range of commands to create and constrain sketches
How to use the range of commands to produce extruded and revolved features The use placed features to modify parametric models
How to create assemblies How to use the drawing layout environment to produce hard copies
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements and the course is ideally suited if you are looking to work, or are just starting out, in the field of Manufacturing or Engineering design and need to gain skills in CAD solid modelling
Assessment
The course is assessed by: Two in class assignments covering the practical skills developed through the year. One in class short answer test covering the underpinning knowledge required.
